Ivan Mrkusic
South African independent jeweller
Hits: 657
In a world where mass produced glitsy, rhodium-plated pieces conventionally clustered with gems are commonplace, Ivan has rapidly established himself with his penchant for solid and precise designs often incorporating organic materials. Where most modern jewellery is over-embellished, Ivan’s designs celebrate the integrity of the materials themselves. He uses precious metals, often set with diamonds and other gems, but is probably best known for his ability to combine some of the world’s rarest and hardest woods with precious metals in clean designs with a quality finish. Ivan has the ability to mould rock-hard woods such as Mexican Zericote, wild olive wood, red ivory wood and ebony for example into rings, pendants, earrings and bracelets set in silver, yellow gold, white gold and platinum.
